So, did everyone watch the skills competition and All Star Game? What did you think?
I recorded the skills competition and have not watched it yet. I had the game on, but was reading. So I guess that gives my thoughts. 😆
I will probably pay more attention to the Olympics. I used to like it more when it was amateurs. NHL players in it were ok, but to me it meant more for the amateurs. Maybe I’m wrong, but what I thought.
I am especially looking forward to seeing if local goalie David Leggio gets to play. He is scheduled to be backup right now, so we will see. He did spend some time in the AHL with the Rochester Americans.
Now back to the regular season and a very busy next couple of months.
I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.
The new new year brings us even closer to the Convention in Philadelphia. I am still trying to decide if I am going or not. I had planned on it, but I ended up using more of my banked time off than I wanted, so I have to refigure my days off.
I hear no one has bid for 2019. 😞. I am told Clubs need to be notified by February 1st of another Club’s interest in bidding. I hope some new bids, somewhere I haven’t been. I know, I don’t go to every Convention 😀, but I have been to a good number of cities for. games. I had one job where if I wanted to go to a out of town seminar, they knew I wanted to go to a hockey game more. Why else would I go??? 😀
i hope hope everyone is staying warm and safe and enjoying hockey!!!
Philly sent a sneak peek of pre-convention activities this week. Can’t wait to see the details and decide if I am going and where.
I would have liked to go to the Phillies game on Sunday, but I don’t think we will be able to get there in time. Besides, they don’t play my Mets 😀 until the following week.
As as for everything else ,I highly recommend the Crayola Crayons tour. Maybe 5 -7 years ago, we toured the one in Eaton, Pennsylvania. It was a lot of fun. There was plenty of interactive displays for us to do, oh, and the kids too.
Hershey Park was fun too. I loved that all the street lights were shaped like Hershey Kisses. And chocolate is always good.
”Looking forward to seeing all the details.
Well, the first week of hickey season has passed. How is your team doing?
Vegas had a very nice opening ceremony. And a good start to their season.
As we enter the second Saturday of games, it is weird to think not all teams are playing. With 31 teams, at least 1 team will be off every night.
One of the broadcasts had an interesting tidbit, did not verify, but they said this is the first time in 5 years Chicago is not involved in an outdoor game. Interesting.
Buffalo is back in the Winter Classic, playing in Citi Field 10 years after hosting the first Classic in 2008. And despite being in New York, Buffalo is the home team. The Rangers agreement with MSG apparently states that all their home games are played there. But will it be a Buffalo crowd? How many fans will travel to New York? Tickets went on sale recently so we will see.
On to the second weekend if hockey. What surprises will it bring?
Well, Opening Night of the NHL season is almost over. The west coast games are entering the third period.
Did your team play? How did they do?
Have you made your season predictions? The ‘experts’ had some interesting Stanley Cup predictions. Tampa and Pittsburgh seemed to be the teams most picked in the article I read. But there was a pick for Nashville and one for Toronto, hum.
Time will tell but hopefully the season will be a fun one for all.
Can you believe it? Hockey season is finally upon us. One week from today the first games will be played.
It is such an exciting time. Who will make the team? Will that young draft pick make it or be sent back to juniors? If he makes the team, how long will he be kept?
What will the lines look like? Is that player going to be on wing or center? Will they run 4 lines all the time?
What about defense pairings? Same top pair as last year? Where does the new guy fit?
Who is the starting goalie? Will duties be shared?
Will a Captain be appointed? Whom? Long term veteran or someone with only a few years? What about assistants?
Then onto the game... who will score the first goal? Will a win be in the works for the first game?
Such an an exciting time. Go team!!!
As you can see, the Rookie Page is still under construction. I am still gathering information.
I also added some history to our About Page. As I was looking for information for the Rookie Page, I came across some fun facts I thought you'd like to see.
Everyone is in camp now, so as you go to your games and meetings, remember I am always looking for pictures and ideas for the site. And news that other Clubs need to know or would be interested in.
Teams will be heading to camp soon. That means our Member Clubs will be meeting. Trips to see our favorite team play out of town will be planned, watch parties will happen, we will be meeting at home games and manning our booth at our home arena and much more.
As as you plan, remember that we have a news page. I will continue to post updates on the. 2018 NHLBCC from Philly, but I will also post items from Member Clubs needing to get the word out to everyone on other items. So remember to email me @ firstname.lastname@example.org if you have an update.
What was your favorite memory from this year's convention?
Watching Mike Trout get his 1,000th hit? Visiting the Lincoln Library? Pub Crawl? Friday's dinner? Saturday's dinner? The Zamboni Factory?
I did not go this year, but mine is usually seeing everyone. I go so infrequently, it is always nice just to see everyone.
And don't forget, you can still send me your pictures. And not only from this Convention, but from past conventions as well.
Wow, it is almost a week since convention ended. Can you believe it?
I hear everyone had a good time and LA Kings Bioster Club did a great job.
I bugged my sister to get me pictures for the site as the week went on. Hope everyone enjoyed them. I'll accept pictures year 'round and they can be from any convention. And news, I'll post articles too.
We also had a suggestion to add a Rookie Page, so watch for that coming soon.
My First Blog
Hi everyone!! Lori, your site editor here.
I keep trying to think of ways to keep the site fresh and useful to everyone. I plan on switching out the pictures on the pages every so often, but I also want to give everyone time to see them. I'll leave the ones on the Past Conventions Page, but the other pages will change.
BTW, don't forget you can email me your pictures. Please let me know what convention they are from.
I have never ever blogged before, but I thought it might be a way to communicate and keep things fresh for those family members not on Facebook. So here goes.
It is my understanding others can post here too. So feel free. Just remember, the Social Media Committee has the right to censure or delete inappropriate posts.
I hope to post a couple times a week, as my schedule allows.
Let's have fun!
