When I tell people I am going to the NHL Booster Club Convention, people tend to think we are holed up in meetings and presentations. I always correct them and tell them it is not like that, it is more like a family reunion.
We get to talk 🏒 in the offseason and do fun things around the city we are visiting. And, more importantly, we make friends for life.. People are surprised. Thinking because we don't all cheer for the same team and often can't stand the other team, we aren't that friendly.
How many people can go almost anywhere there is a NHL team have friends to gather with? That is the NHL Booster Club Convention!
Talked to Chris and she was getting the final payments ready to deposit and send a check to LA. Those of you going have most likely made your last payment already.
Just 13 short weeks until you will be at the 2017 NHLBC.. *sigh* I am not going this year. I know you are not surprised. It is hit and for me. Going to NYC last year was fun and I am glad I went. It is always good to see everyone.
I am sure that, if you are going, you are thinking it is 13 long weeks away. 😀 And August can't come fast enough for you.
LA is preparing for your arrival. Making sure everything is in place. The Buffalo Sabres Booster Club have hosted 2 conventions since I became a member. They are a lot of fun but a lot of work.
So, as you prepare, remember that I am looking for updates, news and pictures.
Ok, you may be wondering about the picture on this page and thinking that is not from convention. You are right. Our Buffalo Sabres Booster Club went painting yesterday. Eight of us went to a local place called Art By You and had a great time.
Artist is not me, but since it was a hockey stick and I had taken a picture of it, I thought why not?
You will probably recognize my sister Chris. Plus Kevin is next to her and some of you may know Edith. Edith and her sister Ellen have been to convention but it has been a while.
So that is the story of the picture.
My First Blog
Hi everyone!! Lori, your site editor here.
I keep trying to think of ways to keep the site fresh and useful to everyone. I plan on switching out the pictures on the pages every so often, but I also want to give everyone time to see them. I'll leave the ones on the Past Conventions Page, but the other pages will change.
BTW, don't forget you can email me your pictures. Please let me know what convention they are from.
I have never ever blogged before, but I thought it might be a way to communicate and keep things fresh for those family members not on Facebook. So here goes.
It is my understanding others can post here too. So feel free. Just remember, the Social Media Committee has the right to censure or delete inappropriate posts.
I hope to post a couple times a week, as my schedule allows.
Let's have fun!
