Less than 3 weeks away. can you believe it?
At this time 3 weeks from now, convention will be in full swing. Friday night's dinner will be over, Saturday breakfast almost over. Oops, starting (almost forgot, I am east coast and it is 11 am here😄),meeting soon and then deligates and relaxing and visiting with everyone.
Seems like it takes forever to get from one year to the next and then it is almost over and we are already planning for the next year.
If i were going 😔, I'd be figuring out what I was taking by now. Trying to decide what needs to be washed and not warm again, do I need to buy anything, like sun screen, where is my suitcase and other fun stuff.
Instead am writing this blog 😂.
Wahoo!! It has been 3 months since we launched the new website. I hope you have enjoyed it.
i try to keep it up to date. I have a few news items and am always looking for more from Clubs. Same for pictures. I do have a few new ones I have yet to put up. I am trying to accumulate some more and then I'll figure out a schedule to rotate them on the pages.
Feel free to to send me pictures and news. Since not everyone is on Facebook, I am hoping more find out about the site at Convention and I have so much I don't know what to do with everything. 😃
Just over 2 months until everyone gathers in LA. But many arrive early and see the city. Those side trips are great. I especially ❤️ when there is a sporting event to go to.
In Vancouver, we saw roller hockey. Unfortunately that is a sport I have not seen much of in years.
I have seen baseball in Pittsburgh, Chicago, St. Louis and New York. In fact, we detoured to New York in 1986 to see a game on the way to Hartford.
Trips on the way to convention have worked too. We stopped at Hershey Park on the way down to D.C. for my first convention.
After trips are also fun. As long as we're that way, we went to Hawaii after Oakland and Alaska after Vancouver. Seattle too.
And seeing the host city is fun. Winnipeg had all their festivals at once and we took a shuttle to different ones. We not only saw the city, we tried great food.
In D.C., we were at the White House and FBI. In St. Louis we went up in the Arch. I thought the way we went up was like Mork from Ork"s egg. 😄. I remember walking around Laclede"s Landing too.
I know I have only hit a few of the trips over the years. But they are always fun and I am sure those going to LA are looking forward to their side trips. Enjoy!!
When I tell people I am going to the NHL Booster Club Convention, people tend to think we are holed up in meetings and presentations. I always correct them and tell them it is not like that, it is more like a family reunion.
We get to talk 🏒 in the offseason and do fun things around the city we are visiting. And, more importantly, we make friends for life.. People are surprised. Thinking because we don't all cheer for the same team and often can't stand the other team, we aren't that friendly.
How many people can go almost anywhere there is a NHL team have friends to gather with? That is the NHL Booster Club Convention!
Talked to Chris and she was getting the final payments ready to deposit and send a check to LA. Those of you going have most likely made your last payment already.
Just 13 short weeks until you will be at the 2017 NHLBC.. *sigh* I am not going this year. I know you are not surprised. It is hit and for me. Going to NYC last year was fun and I am glad I went. It is always good to see everyone.
I am sure that, if you are going, you are thinking it is 13 long weeks away. 😀 And August can't come fast enough for you.
LA is preparing for your arrival. Making sure everything is in place. The Buffalo Sabres Booster Club have hosted 2 conventions since I became a member. They are a lot of fun but a lot of work.
So, as you prepare, remember that I am looking for updates, news and pictures.
Ok, you may be wondering about the picture on this page and thinking that is not from convention. You are right. Our Buffalo Sabres Booster Club went painting yesterday. Eight of us went to a local place called Art By You and had a great time.
Artist is not me, but since it was a hockey stick and I had taken a picture of it, I thought why not?
You will probably recognize my sister Chris. Plus Kevin is next to her and some of you may know Edith. Edith and her sister Ellen have been to convention but it has been a while.
So that is the story of the picture.
My First Blog
Hi everyone!! Lori, your site editor here.
I keep trying to think of ways to keep the site fresh and useful to everyone. I plan on switching out the pictures on the pages every so often, but I also want to give everyone time to see them. I'll leave the ones on the Past Conventions Page, but the other pages will change.
BTW, don't forget you can email me your pictures. Please let me know what convention they are from.
I have never ever blogged before, but I thought it might be a way to communicate and keep things fresh for those family members not on Facebook. So here goes.
It is my understanding others can post here too. So feel free. Just remember, the Social Media Committee has the right to censure or delete inappropriate posts.
I hope to post a couple times a week, as my schedule allows.
Let's have fun!
